Generally speaking, I think there were less surprises and big wow's at this edition of Formex than at the previous one. The trend exhibition by Synnöve Mork (see my last post) was a highlight, as well as the "Young Designers" area. But before talking about those young promising designers, here are my 5 faves from the rest of the exhibition. Because obviously, there still were some products and designers that stood out!
I wasn't the only one who fell for the beautiful collection in porcelain from Finnsdottir Design. Thora Finnsdottir is an Icelandic-born ceramist and designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Boxes, lamps, vases, jewellery - I loved everything!
You'll find Ylva Skarp's beautiful handwriting on anything from wood, textile, paper, ceramics, leather... even the flooring in her exhibition stand was decorated by her lovely calligraphy. I especially like the new collection of prints like "Curiosity" and "Personality", poetic and graphic at the same time.
Cult Design showed lovely retro inspired tables with integrated plant (just as retro inspired by the way). My favourite is the one in wood.
Tove Adman presented new nice products in concrete for the office as well as new lamp holders in concrete and wood. Simple and beautiful with a coloured textile cable.
I love the geometric shapes on the ceramics by Camilla Engdahl, Melltorp Krukmakeri. And I can easily imagine at least half a dozen places in my home where the big pots (top left on the first photo) would fit.
