The scent of Scandinavia

Il y a quelque temps, j'ai reçu un une bougie de Skandinavisk, une jeune marque qui produit des bougies de haute qualité en hommage "au mode de vie scandinave, aux vastes paysages silencieux, au partage de moments chaleureux, au peuple le plus heureux" comme ils le disent si joliment eux-mêmes.

Skandinavisk a récemment lancé une collection de 5 nouvelles bougies, ou chaque parfum rappelle un trait unique de la Scandinave: le parfum floral de l'été suédois (Sommar), la brise de l'archipel (Ö), la quiétude scandinave (Ro), le bonheur urbain de l'une des villes les plus attirantes au monde (København) et l'impressionnant paysage des fjords norvégiens (Fjord).

Some time ago I received a candle from Skandinavisk, a young brand producing high quality candles as "a celebration of Scandinavian lifestyle, the vast silent landscapes, of cosy shared moments, of the world's happiest people" as they so beautifully describe it themselves. 

Skandinavisk recently launched a collection of 5 new scents, each capturing a unique aspect of Scandinavia: the floral scent of a Swedish summer (Sommar), the breezy scent of the archipelagos (Ö), the scent of Scandinavian tranquility (Ro), the urban bliss of one the world's most desirable cities (København), and the drama of the Norwegian fjords (Fjord).

Je n'ai pas raté un seul été en Suède depuis que je me suis installée en France il y a plus de 20 ans, alors le parfum floral de l'été suédois était exactement ce qu'il me fallait... Inutile de dire que ce parfum m'évoque plein de beaux souvenirs!

I have not missed one single summer in Sweden since I moved to France over 20 years ago, so the floral scent of Swedish summer was obviously a perfect match... Needless to say that this scent brings back lots of lovely memories!

Wohnidee - Petra Bindels home + my styling

Aujourd'hui je pars à Stockholm pour retrouver mes amis bloggeurs, visiter le Furniture & Light fair, et participer à quelques événements organisés dans le cadre de la Design Week. Emma et Allan nous ont aussi concocté un programme fabuleux pour notre blog tour et j'ai hâte de vous en dire plus!

Today I'm off to Stockholm to meet my blogger friends again, visit the Furniture & Light fair, and participate in some of the great events that are organized during the Design Week. I'm also very excited about the program Emma and Allan have organized for our blog tour and can't wait to tell you more about that!

Voici l'appartement de la photographe Petra Bindel, vu dans le dernier numéro du magazine allemand Wohnide. Stylisme par Emma Persson Lagerberg.
J'adore ses bibliothèques et rangements intégrés, aussi bien les blanches avec ses ouvertures en vert, comme celles en contreplaqué. Parfait pour optimiser l'espace, ranger le bazar et exposer les belles choses.

I love her built in bookcases and storage solutions, both the white one with green openings, as well as the one in plywood. Perfect for optimizing space, hide away the clutter and display the nice stuff.

Et en parlant de Wohnidee... dans le numéro de Janvier on a pu voir mes photos sur trois pages entières dans un article sur la création de natures mortes. Très fière :)

And talking about Wohnidee... in the January issue you could see my photos on three full pages in an article about creating still lifes. Very proud :)

Bloggers Universe Copenhagen - &tradition

Nous ne connaissions pas le programme à l'avance pour notre Design Trade blog tour à Copenhague, du coup, chaque visite était une belle surprise. La rencontre avec &tradition dans le studio de Norm Architects par exemple, était une surprise très sympa, tout comme le challenge stylisme qu'ils nous ont lancé (voir ci-dessous)!
On a aussi passé un moment inspirant avec la styliste Stine Langvad qui nous a expliqué comment elle travaille, et avec le photographe Rune Lundø qui a photographié notre travail.

&tradition est un éditeur design relativement jeune, fondé en 2010 par Martin Kornbek Hansen. Clairement influencé par l'héritage nordique, &tradition relie la tradition à l'innovation. Leur collection comprend des classiques du design tel que la lampe Flowerpot, créé par Verner Panton en 1969, mais aussi des futures icônes design comme le tabouret Raft ou la lampe Milk de Norm.

We didn't know the program in advance for our Design Trade blog tour in Copenhagen, so every visit was a great surprise. Meeting with &tradition in Norm Architects' studio for example, was a very nice surprise, just like the styling challenge they gave us (see below)!
We also spent an inspiring moment with stylist Stine Langvad who talked about how she works, and with photographer Rune Lundø who shot our work.

&tradition is a fairly young design company, founded in 2010 by Martin Kornbek Hansen. Clearly influenced by the Nordic heritage, &tradition connects tradition with innovation. Their collection includes design classics like the Flowerpot lamp, designed by Verner Panton in 1969, as well as future design icons like the Raft stool or the Milk lamp by Norm.

Notre challenge consistait à mettre en scène quelques produits de la collection &tradition, juste en s'aidant de ce que l'on pouvait trouver comme accessoires dans le studio... J'ai choisi la lampe Flowerpot en gris mat (j'adore!) et le tabouret Raft en noir, un autre favoris. Résultat ci-dessus!

Our challenge was to style a few products from the &tradition collection, just using whatever we could find as props in the studio... I chose the Flowerpot lamp in mat grey (love it!) and the Raft stool in black, another favourite. Result above!

Beckmans - photo final Therese Sennerholt

Voilà enfin les photos que notre groupe a réalisé dimanche dernier dans le cadre de la formation de stylisme avec Lotta Agaton à Beckmans Akademi à Stockholm. Notre tâche était de mettre en scène la toute nouvelle collection de cartes de Therese Sennerholt :) On avait aussi la chance de pouvoir travailler dans les Delight Studios, une ancienne usine convertie en studio photo - fabuleux!

Here comes finally the photos that our group of students created last Sunday during the styling classes with Lotta Agaton at Beckmans Akademi in Stockholm. Our task was to style the brand new collection of cards from Therese Sennerholt :) We were also very lucky to be able to work in the Delight Studios, a former factory converted into photo studio - fabulous!

Ma formation avec Lotta Agaton

Je suis de retour à Paris après deux weekends extrêmement inspirants à la formation stylisme de Lotta Agaton à Beckmans Akademi, Stockholm! Hier nous avons eu le privilège de mettre en scène la nouvelle collection de cartes de Therese Sennerholt dans le magnifique Delight Studios. Je n'ai pas le droit de vous montrer ces photos-là avant mercredi, alors en attendant, voici quelques photos de nature morte que j'ai créées la semaine dernière dans le cadre de notre formation.

I'm back in Paris after two extremely inspiring weekends participating in Lotta Agaton's styling class at Beckmans Akademi, Stockholm! Yesterday, we had the privilege of styling Therese Sennerholt's new collection of cards in the stunning Delight Studios. I'm not allowed to show you those photos before Wednesday, so meanwhile here are some still life photos that I created last week as a step in our training.

The photo from the 50's is called "Passing through", so I tried to build further on that theme and time period...

Et pour celle-ci, des nuances subtiles de vert en partant de ce grand vase, un prototype de l'artiste du verre Erika Höglund. Le vase à droite vient de ma boutique en ligne.

And for this one subtle shades of green, starting with this large vase, a prototype by glass artist Erika Höglund. The vase to the right comes from my webshop.

Mon bougeoir de l'Avent, suite...

Alors voilà à quoi ressemble mon bougeoir de l'Avent cette année... Finalement, j'ai décidé de relooker un bougeoir que j'avais déjà. Je lui ai donné une couche de peinture blanche à la bombe et je l'ai rempli de pommes de pin peintes en blanc elles aussi. Et pendant que j'y étais, quelques branches sont devenues blanches également. J'avais envie de quelque chose d'assez simple et sobre, alors je suis plutôt contente du résultat.

So this is what my Advent candleholder looks like this year... I finally decided to give one of my old candleholders a makeover. I spray painted it white and filled it with pine cones which I also painted white. And while I was at it, a few branches became white as well. I wanted something fairly simple and sober so I'm quite pleased with the result.
